LOONA's Haseul Returns with New Solo Single 'Fragile Eyes'

Former LOONA member Haseul is set to make her return to music with the release of her new solo single "Fragile Eyes" on December 9th, marking her first solo release since her debut single "Let Me In" in 2016.

The announcement comes at a significant moment in Haseul's career, following her departure from LOONA and Blockberry Creative earlier this year. Her previous solo work, "Let Me In," earned critical acclaim for its unique orchestral approach and emotional depth.

A Return to Solo Work

"Let Me In," Haseul's debut solo single as part of LOONA's pre-debut project, showcased her distinctive vocal abilities through a purely orchestral arrangement. The song, produced by Oreo and arranged by Oong Kim, stood out in LOONA's discography for rejecting conventional pop structures in favor of building a unique musical world.

According to music critic Joe Palmer of KultScene, "Let Me In" was "the key to understanding the first five girls of LOONA, a track that rejects common pop rules in favour of building a unique world." The song featured delicate instrumental details, including piccolo tweets, harp pulls, and dynamic string arrangements that complemented Haseul's controlled yet vulnerable vocal performance.

Musical Evolution

While details about the musical direction of "Fragile Eyes" remain under wraps, Haseul's previous work suggests listeners can expect sophisticated vocal work and emotional depth. Her debut single demonstrated her ability to navigate complex arrangements while maintaining artistic authenticity.

The original "Let Me In" single album, released through Blockberry Creative on December 15, 2016, featured two tracks: Haseul's solo "Let Me In" and a Christmas collaboration "The Carol" with fellow LOONA members HeeJin and HyunJin.

Legacy and Future

Haseul's position in K-pop history is notable, having been part of one of the industry's most ambitious debut projects. LOONA's pre-debut period saw twelve members released as soloists over eighteen months, creating a complex narrative and musical universe that garnered international attention.

The announcement of "Fragile Eyes" signals a new chapter in Haseul's artistic journey, now as an independent artist crafting her own path in the industry. The release will mark her first solo material in seven years, generating anticipation among fans eager to hear her musical evolution.

The single "Fragile Eyes" is scheduled for release across major music platforms on December 9th, 2024.
